Primary Sources and the Presidency: Using Primary Sources to Enhance Instruction on the Presidency and the White House

Educators attending this seminar will gain a hands-on look at the use of primary sources in the classroom to enhance instruction on the presidency and the White House. Participants will participate in primary source analysis, evaluation, and discussions surrounding the use of these sources in the Language Arts, Civics, Geography, and History classroom. Through generous support from the White House Historical Association, the Xcel Energy Classroom Connection Program, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, participants will receive primary source study kits (each a $250 value) for use at their school in their classroom. Handouts and materials will be provided.

This session will be led by Michelle Pearson (Hulstrom Options School), Vicki Murphy (Annunciation School), Barbara Figg (Mullen High School), Terri Bramhall (Grandview High School), and Kathleen Anderson (Annunciation School).

Anticipated audience: K-12 educators.
