Professional Development for Colorado Educators • Summer, 2005

Call for Proposals! Would you like to develop a Learning Activity for your classroom or school over the summer, and be paid for it?
Proposals are now being accepted for AAM-Colorado Learning Activities Development projects to be created in Summer 2005. Learning Activities Development will bring teams of content experts together to create learning activities using a template, and incorporating primary sources and other educational elements to accomplish stated learning outcomes.

Learning Activities Development projects will take place from August 1st - 12th, 2005. Participants must be Colorado K-12 educators, and at least one participant per team must have completed AAM-Colorado Workshop Series I, II, and III prior to the team's participation in Learning Activities Development. Announcing Digital Storytelling Workshops in June and July 2005
Digital storytelling can tie local news to national primary sources, and interweave them with personal or family events, memories, and histories. Three-day Digital Storytelling Workshop sessions are scheduled for Summer 2005. Participants may choose between two Digital Storytelling session dates:

  • Group A: June 13th - 15th
  • Group B: July 25th - 27th

Participants registering for a Digital Storytelling Workshop must complete AAM-Colorado Workshop Series I, II, and III prior to participating. For more information, please contact AAM-Colorado at 303-352-4945 or aamcolorado@mscd.edu.

Call for Applicants: Teacher in Residence Program at the Library of Congress seeking a Colorado K-12 Teacher
Would you like to live in the Washington, D.C. area for a year, working at the Library of Congress while still earning your current salary? If so, you may be interested in the LOC’s Teacher in Residence program, beginning August 2005. The Teacher in Residence program is sponsored by the Library of Congress, and will allow a Colorado K-12 teacher the opportunity to experience working in the nation’s capitol at the Library of Congress, which has been called “one of America's foremost citadels of intellectual freedom.”

Applicants for the Teacher in Residence program must complete AAM-Colorado Workshop Series I, II, and III by August, 2005. To apply, send a current résumé to Elizabeth Ridgway, American Memory Coordinator for the Library of Congress, elri@loc.gov. Résumés will be accepted until April 30, 2005.
