Culture and Society: Baseball and the Elections of 1908 and 2008
Baseball has played an important role in American society. Hailed as the All American Pastime, it has been used as a medium for connecting various parts of the country, as well as generations of Americans. The fairly recent arrival of the Rockies in Denver, as well as their pennant drive a year ago, has created a great deal of excitement in the region. Baseball has historically been a sport which has also been connected to the presidency and the election process since the early 1900's. The election of 2008 is no exception. This set seeks to illuminate the role of baseball of yesterday (1908) and today (2008) in the culture of our country and the political arena.
